KUCHING: Two alumni from Sarawak’s leading technical institutions have been sent for a one-month industry training programme in China.

Adlee Abdul Hamid of i-CATS University College (i-CATS UC) and Melvin Munan Ingga of Sarawak Skills’ Automotive and Welding Institute of Sarawak (AWISAR) were named as the recipients of the training award during the 26th Sarawak Skills and i-CATS UC convocation ceremony here.

Sponsored by Foshan Feichi Motor Technology Company Limited, the initiative recognises their outstanding achievements in technical and vocational education and training (TVET), and aims to equip them with advanced skills in green mobility and hydrogen technologies.

Hallman Sabri, the Executive Director of Sarawak Skills, highlighted the importance of the initiative.

“This international exposure is a testament to our dedication in producing globally competitive, industry-relevant graduates.

“Adlee and Melvin exemplify the high standards we strive for at Sarawak Skills and i-CATS UC.

“Their participation in this programme will not only enhance their technical capabilities but also contribute meaningfully to Sarawak’s ambitions in hydrogen technology and sustainable transport,” said Hallman.

The training beginning April 7 will include immersive, hands-on learning at several institutions and manufacturing hubs across China.

The programme begins with an introduction to hydrogen technologies and system integration, followed by practical and theoretical sessions on electric vehicle (EV) systems, including autonomous driving technologies.

Participants will also undertake an industrial placement at Foshan Feichi’s factory, gaining insight into hydrogen-powered commercial vehicle production, before concluding with in-depth exposure to hydrogen fuel cell system development.
