Two residential areas in Samarahan under EMCO

KUCHING: Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has decided to place Kampung Sungai Maong here and Taman Univista in Samarahan under enhanced movement control order (EMCO).

SDMC said that the Emco will be effective from 12:01am on Feb 17 till 11:59pm March 2.

“This followed a risk assessment done after the number of Covid-19 positive cases in Kuching and Samarahan increased,” it said in a statement released today (Feb 16).

Of 193 Covid-19 positive cases recorded in the state today, Samarahan had 19 while Kuching had 17.

Earlier, SDMC announced the emergence of six new clusters, namely, Geronggang Cluster and Mas Merah Cluster in Sibu, Univisita Cluster in Samarahan, Kampung Sungai Maong Cluster in Kuching, Gelong Cluster in Kapit and Kidurong Dua Cluster in Bintulu.

A total of 184 persons from Univista Cluster in Samarahan were screened while 50 individuals from Kampung Sungai Maong Cluster in Kuching were screened as of 12 noon today.
