MIRI: Police detained two men and seized 5 cartons of isotonic drinks believed to be stolen from a storeroom at Krokop here last Saturday.

The duo, in their 20s, was detained by a police team from the Motorcycle Patrol Unit (URB) at Jalan Miri-Lutong at around 10.45pm.

Prior to the incident, the police were conducting a crime prevention patrol in the area when they spotted two men riding a motorcycle in a suspicious manner while carrying 5 cartons of isotonic drinks.

Miri Deputy Police chief, Supt Stanley Jonathan Ringgit confirmed the arrests and said initial investigation revealed the isotonic drinks were believed to have been stolen from a storeroom in Krokop.

He said following the arrests, the police contacted the supervisor of the storeroom and informed the latter of the incident.

Stanley said after checking the storeroom, the supervisor discovered that 10 cartons of the isotonic drinks were missing.

Upon investigating the scene, he said the suspects were believed to have broken into the storeroom by prising open the spandex walls.
