MIRI: Two individuals lost their lives in a collision involving two trucks early this morning on Jalan Pan Borneo near Sekaloh.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre received an emergency call at 2.37 am, prompting a response from the Batu Niah Fire and Rescue Station.
A team was deployed to the accident site, located approximately 28km from the station.
The accident involved a Hino truck and a CAMC truck.
Unfortunately, the driver and a passenger of the Hino truck were pronounced dead at the scene.
The victims were identified as Bonaventure Jimat, 31, from Rumah Ado Sungai Tuah, Kanowit, and Keeshenn Marks Donald Bujang Nasil, 26, from Rumah Empading, Sungai Stalon, Belawai.
The driver of the CAMC truck, Linggi Muhin, 49, and his passenger, Joel Linggi, survived the crash. Both are from Sungai Pasai, Jalan Teku, Sibu.
Rescue operations involved the use of specialised road traffic accident equipment to separate the trucks and extract the trapped victims.
The operation ended at 6.40 am, after which the deceased were handed over to police and medical personnel for further action.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
