KUCHING: TVS, the state-owned television station, is looking to develop more content from other districts and states, by spreading its wings to Sibu, Bintulu, Miri and the Klang Valley.

Sarawak Media Group (SMG) executive deputy chairman and chief executive officer Kushairi Abang said each location will house its news team, content and marketing.

Content-wise, Kushairi said the more diversified it is, the richer the content would be.

“As an example, for travelogue series, while focusing on Sarawak tourism products, we would also go an extra mile to feature contents from other destinations within Malaysia and abroad.

“After all, it’s a borderless world, why limit to just Sarawak content alone? But still, Sarawak content will be our special focus and features,” he told New Sarawak Tribune recently.

Starting next year, he said viewers will see more of TVS anchor shows and live events coverage.

“Anchor shows need time and money to grow, but that’s how TV branding is built to sustain. We are looking into partnerships with relevant parties to ease the financial burden.”

Meanwhile, on digital platform, Kushairi said they are revamping tvstv.my to make it more user friendly and more resourceful.

“The digital platform is key integral part of today’s media. That’s where live TVS shall be on air for 24/7 and content features to be places as Video On Demand.

“TVS OTT apps is also in the pipeline and it will help us build loyalty and gaining captive audience.”

Where social media is concerned, he said more content will be uploaded to garner more engagements, with a single Facebook page created for each languages.

“The year 2024 will witness more ground promotions in Sarawak and Klang Valley for TVS. We want to be felt, not just seen. So, we need to get closer to the target audience.”
