KUCHING: Sarawak’s very own broadcasting company, TV Sarawak (TVS) is set to air the 2024-2025 Carabao Cup quarter-finals live in Malaysia, beginning tomorrow.
Included in the schedule are Southampton vs Liverpool (Dec 19 at 3.30am), Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United (Dec 20 at 3.30am), with delayed broadcasts of Arsenal vs Crystal Palace (Dec 20 at 9.15am) and Newcastle United vs Brentford (Dec 20 at 1.15pm).
With football being Malaysia’s most popular sport, followed by 10 million people, TVS aims to become a key player in bringing major football events to the country.
The Carabao Cup, featuring top English Premier League clubs, is globally watched, with last year’s final between Manchester United and Newcastle United attracting a record 4.26 million viewers in the UK.
In Malaysia, the viewership for the final surged from 500,000 to over a million. This reflected football’s deep cultural presence in Malaysia, where it ranked 7th in the passionate world of football according to the 2022 Nielsen World Football Report.
TVS’s Carabao Cup broadcast is part of its commitment to provide free-to-air sports content to Malaysia’s football fans.
