KUCHING: The live airing of the 2024-2025 Carabao Cup matches marked a significant milestone for TVS as the decision to broadcast in English underscored its growing presence in Southeast Asia.

Football host Roshan Narayan commended the company’s bold move towards English broadcasting. “I applauded TVS for going English. Once you go English, it was a big step — not just in Malaysia, but also across the region, in Southeast Asia.

“It was like a little wave of the flag, ‘Hey, we’re here, and we want to grow bigger.’ I feel fortunate to be part of this historic moment,” Roshan remarked.

He further elaborated that the initiative would not only enhance the station’s visibility but also create opportunities for local talents’, both in front of and behind the camera. “It’s refreshing to see new players in the industry. You need fresh ideas to nurture local talent.

“You create more job opportunities and build a stronger brand,” he explained.

Former Malaysian goalkeeper Syed Adney Syed Hussain, who had acted as the pundit for the Carabao Cup coverage, shared his enthusiasm for working with TVS.

“From the first contact, they made us very comfortable. Everything was handled professionally, from travel arrangements to accommodations.

“The only thing we were nervous about was getting on screen, but the people here were so very friendly and welcoming,” Syed shared.

Both Roshan and Syed were part of an exclusive interview with the Sarawak Tribune recently.

The live broadcast offered comprehensive coverage, including pre- and post-match analysis, with Roshan hosting the segments and Syed Adney delivering expert commentary on the matches.

This marks a new chapter for TVS, bringing top-tier international football action to Malaysian audiences while fostering the growth of local talents in the broadcasting industry.
