MUKAH: Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi has urged Sarawakians to embrace unity and harmony, stressing that religious differences should not be a source of discord.

“Our nation, built on a diverse background and population, must strengthen this diversity,” he said during Christmas Berambeh gathering at Kampung Sesok recently.

“Do not be easily swayed by certain parties who question how we celebrate festivities in Sarawak, deeming it excessive or harmful to interfaith relations.”

He said that every celebration should serve as a foundation for unity, fostering racial harmony and ensuring the well-being of the people and the nation.

Abdul Yakub encouraged youths to seize the opportunities provided by the government, stating that a strong educational foundation and skills training are crucial for the future.

He also called on the community to continue supporting the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government.

“Our government continues to implement investment and economic initiatives to ensure Sarawak remains on the right track toward becoming a developed and high-income region by 2030,” he said.
