KUCHING: A turbine head was almost destroyed in a fire at Sejingkat Power Station, Jalan Bako yesterday.
According to a statement from State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a distress call of the incident was received around 6am. It immediately despatched a team of firefighters from Padungan BBP and Tabuan Jaya BBP to the scene.
Upon inspection, it was found that one unit of turbine head was on fire in the turbine hall building of Sejingkat.
“A team of Emergency Response Team (ERT) carried out the initial evacuation action as well as extinguishing the blaze at the scene. It managed to control the fire from spreading to other parts.
“The overall damaged percentage of the item is estimated at 80 percent and the incident does not involve any injury,” the statement said.
The operation ended around 7.50am.
