TSG unveils five new riders

KUALA TERENGGANU: Asia’s number-one cycling team, Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG), has unveiled five new riders as they gear up for a more demanding 2025 season.

TSG chief executive officer Che Ku Mohd Izmuddin Che Ku Mahmood revealed that the additions include four international riders and one local talent promoted from the TSG Cycling Academy (Malaysia).

The international recruits are Adne Willemjan Van Engelen (Netherlands), Vadin Denisovich Pronskiy (Kazakhstan), Mathias Bjorn Bregnhoj (Denmark), and Stefan Jaco De Bod (South Africa).

The sole local addition, Muhammad Haizam Mohd Sabri, joins the senior team as a replacement for Irwandie Lakasek.

“Meanwhile, we’ve retained international riders Metkel Eyob (Eritrea), Anatolii Budiak (Ukraine), and Aiman Cahyadi (Indonesia),” said Che Ku Mohd Izmuddin during the unveiling of TSG 2025 riders and sponsors on Monday night.

The local riders are Wan Abdul Rahman Hamdan, Mohamad Nur Aiman Mohd Zariff, Zuladri Amin Zulkurnain, Muhammad Shahmir Aiman Abd Halim, Kee Zhe Yie, Muhammad Nur Aiman Rosli, Muhammad Haizam Mohd Sabri, Mohd Harrif Salleh, and team captain Nur Amirull Fakhruddin Mazuki.

He highlighted that the Kuala Terengganu-based team ended the 2024 season on a triumphant note, clinching the title of Asia’s top cycling team for the fourth consecutive year, since 2021.

Under the guidance of coach Mohd Saiful Anuar Aziz, TSG also claimed the title of Best Continental Team for the third time, outperforming 178 other clubs.

“TSG secured 53 podium finishes from 39 UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) races last season.

“We also set a new milestone in the European Tour series with international rider Merhawi Kudus achieving a remarkable second-place finish at the UCI 2. Pro Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkiye,” he said.

Che Ku Mohd Izham also announced that TSG has secured RM9.5 million in sponsorships, comprising cash, goods, and services from 22 companies for the 2025 season. – BERNAMA
