KUCHING: A truck driver ferrying chickens to Tanjung Durian, Siniawan, Bau was attacked and robbed by two men on Thursday night.

The victim aged 26 from Jalan Burung Rawa, off Jalan Batu Kawa said he was approaching the chicken farm when two men in a car blocked him. One of them pulled out a parang and hit the side of his neck and head.

The robbers took his car key, wallet and fled the scene. The bloodied victim managed to get to Siniawan police station to lodge a police report.

Police later sent him to Bau Hospital for treatment.

Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon urged those who have information on the case to report to the police.

He said the case is classified under armed robbery, which carries a jail term of 20 years and whipping.   

Poge said from initial investigation the suspects are believed to be locals. 

Meanwhile, in Miri a woman in her late 40s was left terrified when her son ran amok and threatened to harm her after his demand for cash was turned down.

The amok incident took place at a house in Permyjaya on Wednesday afternoon.

The woman lodged a police report at the Lutong police station after the incident, which she claimed was not the first.

The woman, who works as a security guard at a supermarket in Tudan, suspected that her 22-year-old son might be involved in drug abuse.

Police are investigating.
