LIMBANG: Narcotics police seized 4.10kg of suspected syabu and arrested three men in an anti-narcotics operation last Friday (July 14).
The suspects, aged between 30 and 35, were arrested while inside a pickup truck along Jalan Melinau Ulu Mendamit, here.
Limbang police chief Supt Parum Niot said further inspections led to the finding and seizure of suspected syabu drugs, which were packed in four plastic packages.
“The drugs weighing 4.10kg, was estimated to be worth around RM132,000. In addition, it can be used up to 20,500 times,” he said.
Parum said all the suspects from Miri tested positive for drugs.
Background checks found that the first suspect, who is unemployed, had two prior records for drug-related offences, whereas the other suspects who are employed, did not have any prior records.
The trio are remanded for seven days to facilitate investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a punishment of either the death penalty or life imprisonment and whipped up to 15 strokes, upon conviction.
