PADAWAN: The treated water supply projects for Kampung Petag, Kampung Sitang and Kampung Bangau are scheduled to commence in the second quarter of the upcoming year.
These projects aim to address the challenge of untreated water supply in these three villages, according to Datuk Dr Jerip Susil.
“These villages are part of the Rural Water Supply Project (BALB) under Puncak Borneo Phase 2. The project has received an approved allocation of RM129mil from the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development,” said the Mambong assemblyman.
During a recent work visit to Kampung Sitang, Dr Jerip, who is also the Sarawak Deputy Minister for Transport (Aviation and Road), revealed that both the Kuching Water Board and the Rural Water Supply Department have formulated plans to resolve water supply issues in the region, including low water pressure in Kampung Emperoh Jambu.
“The challenges in treated water supply are primarily due to geographical factors, as the village is situated in a highland area, making it difficult for water supply to reach the villagers.”
To tackle this, a booster pump system and water storage tank will be constructed in the region through the BALB Puncak Borneo Phase 2 Project.
