KUCHING: Infrastructure facilities at SK Temenggong will be upgraded to provide comfort to teachers and students there.
Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Islamic Affairs and DBKU) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said the facilities to be upgraded involved urgent needs which had been listed by the school management.
He said these upgrades would be carried out with funds from the rural transformation programme (RTP) for Pantai Damai constituency.
“For RTP 2021, we started to put schools in the list for upgrading and improvement works. This school is among the five schools listed for upgrades involving a fund of RM100,000,” he said when visiting SK Temenggong on Monday.
The Pantai Damai assemblyman said attention would be given to school infrastructure in order to provide comfort to teachers and students.
“To produce quality students, the school environment must also be of quality,” he said.
Meanwhile, SK Temenggong headmaster Suhaimi Heep said among the development priorities at the school was a space for parents to drop off and pick up their children.
“It is important to provide comfort to teachers and the children, especially to adhere to the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).
“A roofed space is also needed heading towards the preschool classes, aside from installing barrier fences,” he said.
Also present during the visit was an engineer from the Kuching Division Public Works Department (JKR).
