KUCHING: Visits to Telok Serabang and Kampung Pugu will be more pleasant as rural transformation projects (RTPs) costing a total of RM700,000 are set to commence soon.
The projects include a RM100,000 new public toilet in Telok Serabang and a RM600,000 jetty and ramp upgrading project for Kampung Pugu (for eco-tourism) both of which will be carried out under RTP 2019 and RTP 2020 respectively.
For the jetty and ramp upgrading project the implementing agency is currently getting contractors to cast lots to determine who will get it.
“The amenities would facilitate the visits of tourists to Telok Serabang and Kg Pugu, which is in line with our vision of making Lundu a natural beach town,” said Tanjong Datu assemblywoman Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu.
She spoke about this during a visit with Tourism, Arts and Culture Assistant Minister Datuk Sebastian Ting on Monday.
The visit began at Telok Melano while the visit to Tanjong Datu National Park had to be cancelled due to heavy rain.
She and Ting later had lunch at Telok Serabang before going on to Sematan waterfront and jetty where Kampung Pugu jetty and ramp are located.
Also present during the visit were Lundu District Officer Gustian Durani, Lundu District Council secretary Norashikin Brahim, and village chief Rabbi Rabiel.
