BAU: Parti Demokratik Progresif (PDP) president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing will defend the Bintulu parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15) which is expected to be held soon.

PDP vice president Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said the incumbent still had strong support in the constituency.

“Yes, he (Tiong) will defend the seat in Bintulu.

“He is very active at the grassroots level and has been visiting several areas despite his busy schedules and duties in Dudong, he still looks after Bintulu,” he said when met by the media at the Majlis Ramah Tamah with PDP President at Bau Civic Centre, today (Sept 18).

Henry, who is also Deputy Minister of Transport said despite Tiong being a Dudong assemblyman, he is still well-liked by the people in Bintulu because of his active involvement in the field to meet the constituents.

“He often goes to the longhouses. I have heard stories of him visiting longhouses as early as five in the morning just to have breakfast with the people of the longhouse,” he said.
