Tiong pledges to help rebuild Malaysia

SIBU: An appreciative Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing has pledged to give his best as Tourism Minister for the sake of the people and the country.

“This is not an easy task, especially at a time when Malaysia and the world are facing economic challenges, but I, along with the members of the Unity Government Cabinet under the leadership of the Prime Minister, will work hard in carrying out the task,” said Tiong who is president of the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP).

“Moving forward, I hope that we can all stop the endless politicking which is definitely detrimental to the people and the country.

“What is most important at this point is to rebuild Malaysia, defend the fate of the people and boost economic growth and continue what has been delayed for the good of the people and the country,” he said.

Tiong who is Bintulu MP hoped staff in the ministry, the agencies under it as well as industry players and stakeholders will help him bring the industry to a higher level.

In a statement Saturday (Dec 3) he also expressed his gratitude to all parties who have entrusted him with the responsibility.

Firstly, Tiong put on record his appreciation for the Agong, whose wisdom, he said, had led to the establishment of a unity government.

“A big thank you to Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg who trusted me to carry the trust as Minister of Tourism,” he said.

The Bintulu MP also congratulated all Cabinet members who were appointed by the Prime Minister on Dec 2.
