KUCHING: A new route from Kuching to Jakarta and vice-versa as announced by Indonesia AirAsia recently has received overwhelming response by Kuchingnites.
The new air connectivity to the capital city of Indonesia also comes with affordable promotional fares for its passengers.

I fully support the new route of the direct flight to Jakarta as it is beneficial to many industries. This includes transportation, tourism and especially medical industry. Over the years, Kuching has been receiving quite a number of patients from West Kalimantan, Indonesia who are seeking medical treatment here due to shorter travel time. With the new direct flight from Kuching to Jakarta, it will open up new opportunities for such an industry. And, of course, for the benefit of tourism sector too.

It is a good start and effort made between Sarawak and another country that can boost the economies of both countries. I also hope for more direct flights coming into Sarawak from Australia, such as Perth, Melbourne and Sydney. We should go further to boost our state economy, as we also have international events. Sarawak is rich with its arts and culture. This is a good start to showcase what Sarawak has to offer globally.
