MUKAH: It is good to know that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has agreed to read the letters presented to him by the people of Sabah and Sarawak during his “Kenali Kembara Borneo” tour recently.
Not only that, His Majesty says he will also submit the letters and petitions to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Suara Sarawak interviewed several members of the public on this matter.
MUHAMAD TARMIZI KARNAIN ABDAH, 25,
Vice president of the Malaysia Youth Council
I am moved because the Yang d-Pertuan Agong has received letters of expression from the people in Sarawak and Sabah. I hope that with these letters, His Majesty will convince the Malaysian government to give its best to the people, especially in Sarawak, in terms of development, roads and so on. At the same time, I also hope that the Malaysian government will consider every suggestion and solve every problem shared by the people.
JEFRI MUSA, 54,
Chief of Penakub Ulu Village
I am very proud of the King for his willingness to accept letters and other items given by the people during the journey. Not only that, His Majesty was also willing to drive along the Pan Borneo Highway personally to meet the people during the recent Kembara Kenali Borneo tour. In addition, it is good to hear that His Majesty also reads the letters himself before presenting them to the Prime Minister. I hope other leaders will emulate his Majesty’s attitude to help the people in need instead of meeting only dignitaries at formal events. They need to emulate the King by meeting the people directly.
KUEH BING CHUAN, 53,
Kapitan Penakub Baazar
This is the first time we have seen a Yang di-Pertuan Agong go on a Kembara Kenali Borneo tour and drive himself around.
The King also commented that some stretches of the Pan Borneo Highway were good while some were like ‘roller coasters’. This Yang di-Pertuan Agong is also very unusual and the best because he meets and mingles with the people. I hope the King can help the people and tell the federal government to improve the things that are lacking. I also hope he will visit Sarawak often.
AGATHA WISTERINA STEPHEN, 33,
Assistant manager of Digital Economy Centre (PEDi) Sungai Ragei
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s willingness to accept letters from the people during the Kembara Kenali Borneo tour shows that his Majesty cares more about the people than his position. I hope he can help improve our country’s economy after reading the people’s letters of expression.
AZMIL DANI, 24, STUDENT
I am very happy that the King is willing to read letters of sincere expression from the people of Sabah and Sarawak. The letters are sincere expressions and reflect the reality of life and what is happening in these two states. The Kembara Kenali Borneo tour was a good channel for the people to voice their problems while meeting the Yang di-Pertuan Agong face to face.
