KUCHING: Fine weather and an improving flood situation in Sarawak have allowed three more temporary relief centres (PPS) to close today (Feb 10).

Two PPS, namely Bintulu Civic Centre and Dewan Penghulu Balang Sekuau in Selangau, closed at 12 pm, while the PPS at Indoor Stadium in Dalat closed at 4 pm.

This leaves only 10 PPS for floods still active in the state.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) Secretariat said the number of evacuees at the centres had also dropped from 2,072 on Sunday (Feb 9) to 1,286 today (Feb 10).

Meanwhile, two other PPS remain active as they are accommodating landslide and fire victims.

In Miri, 161 landslide victims are seeking temporary shelter at the Miri Red Crescent Centre.

In Sibu, 35 fire victims are sheltering at Dewan Datuk Aaron, Bawan Kanowit.
