MARUDI: Three mosques and four surau in Marudi and Beluru received donations from Sarawak Legislative Assembly Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar.

The cheques were presented by Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, who is also the Marudi assemblyman, Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil, on Friday (Sept 6).

According to Penguang, the donation symbolises the Sarawak government’s efforts, under the leadership of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), to foster unity and cooperation across all races and religions.

“This contribution not only demonstrates the Sarawak government’s concern but also shows that GPS is always attentive to the needs of every community, including those in rural areas such as Marudi and Beluru,” he stated during his speech at the event.

He also underscored the importance of collaboration between the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) and government agencies to effectively address issues in the villages.

The donations comprised RM10,000 each to three mosques — As-Salam Mosque, Nurul Iman Mosque, and Al-Munir Mosque. Additionally, four surau — Surau At-Taqwa, Surau Nur Ihsan, Surau An-Nur, and Surau Ar-Rahman—each received RM5,000.
