SIBU: Police arrested three local men, aged between 18 and 27, during an operation codename ‘Op Samseng Jalanan on April 11.
The operation from 10 pm to 1.30 am at Jalan Awang Ramli Amit and Dataran Sibu, also saw 13 individuals being inspected.
According to Sibu district police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili, the suspects were arrested under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.
“Three motorcycles were also seized under Section 60 of the same Act for documentation purposes,” he said in a statement today.
Throughout the operation, a total of 23 summonses were issued for various traffic offences, including modified vehicle structures and exhausts, lack of rear-view mirrors, faulty brakes, no insurance coverage, missing number plates, expired road tax (LKM), driving without a valid licence, fancy or non-compliant number plates, and failure to display ‘P’ plates.
Zulkipli advised road users to comply with traffic laws and urged parents to monitor their children’s activities to prevent them from engaging in illegal road activities.
