Three children rescued from sinking car

LAWAS: A car carrying nine passengers plunged into the river at Kampung Awat-Awat, Jalan Awat-Awat in Sundar, this afternoon (Oct 18) leaving three children hospitalised while six others managed to escape unscathed.

According to Lawas Fire and Rescude Department, the incident, which involved a Perodua Alza, was reported at 1.15 pm by a caller stating that the vehicle had veered off the road and fallen into the river.

Six of the passengers successfully escaped from the sinking vehicle while three children who were trapped inside were saved by nearby civilians and rushed to a clinic.

Authorities are still working to gather more details about the victims and the cause of the accident.
