KUCHING: Men’s health, often overlooked, needs more attention, particularly in raising awareness and encouraging early prevention, said Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.

Deputy Minister of Utility Datuk Dr. Abdul Rahman Junaidi selivering his speech.

“Despite being equally important as women, children, the elderly, and PWDs, men’s health receives less focus.

“We rarely see dedicated programmes for men, and there’s still no specific ministry, department, or unit focused on men’s health, even within our health facilities,” he said during the Men’s Health Day held at Mydin Shopping Mall, Petra Jaya today (Dec 1).

Organised by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UNIMAS, the event aimed to raise public awareness of often-neglected men’s health issues.

“Many men take their prostate health lightly until serious problems arise,” said Pantai Damai assemblyman.

He stressed that men’s health deserves equal attention to that given to women and children.
“Men are the backbone of families and communities. Their health directly impacts their roles, and by extension, the well-being of their families and society,” he added.

Abdul Rahman commended UNIMAS for leading the way in organising men’s health programmes in Sarawak.

He hoped that such initiatives would continue and expand across Sarawak to benefit more people.
