TH Pelita Gedong Sdn Bhd wins emergency comp

KUCHING: TH Pelita Gedong Sdn Bhd emerged as the overall champion in the Southern Zone Emergency Response Team 2018 Competition organised by Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM).

The four categories of competitions comprised Kawad Operasi Peralatan Kebombaan, Kawad Operasi Firemen Lift, Kawad Ironman ERT and Kawad Campuran Basah 300 Kaki 2 Pancutan.

In the Kawad Operasi Peralatan Kembombaan category, TH Pelita Gedong Sdn Bhd won first place whereas PUSAKA was awarded second place and CMS Cement Sdn Bhd in third place.

PUSAKA won the first place for Kawad Operasi Firemen Lift category while second place was won by Melur Gemilang and PowerCo in third place.

In the Kawad Ironman ERT category, Kuching Port Authority emerged champion while Bau Palm Oil Mill Sdn Bhd won second place and third place was awarded to Damai Beach Resort.

For the Kawad Campuran Basah 300 Kaki 2 Pancutan category, TH Pelita Gedong Sdn Bhd won the first place whereas Kilang Sawit Sampadi was awarded second place and Melur Gemilang Palm Oil Mill in third place.

Stampin Member of Parliament Chong Chieng Jien presented the prizes to the winners during a dinner held in conjunction with the competition on Wednesday night at UCSI Hotel here.

Speaking during the dinner, he stressed that it was compulsory for premises to have fire certificate in order to set up their own ERT Team to ensure that early actions could be taken in the event of emergency or fire incidence.

Meanwhile, the Director of JBPM Sarawak Nor Hisham Mohd said that the competition was a platform for ERT to gauge the level of competencies.

He added that 24 agencies participated in the competition and had displayed high commitment and spirit in all the events competed.
