KUCHING: The Church Futsal Tournament 2025 wrapped up with TFT emerging as champions, displaying talent and a touch of flair throughout the event.
Gromang FC claimed the runner-up spot while Infinity FT and Volcano FC shared third-place honours in a tournament that saw 32 teams battle it out in a show of sportsmanship and skill.
Emmanuel Samarahan Sports and Recreation Club president Gidien Dayos said the tournament was held biennially before the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said the tournament has made a strong comeback and is now being considered for expansion into other regions, particularly the central zone (Sibu) and northern zone (Miri).
“The main goal of this tournament was not only to discover new talents but to also foster a sense of friendship and unity among players and church communities,” Gidien told Sarawak Tribune when contacted on Friday.
He then expressed satisfaction with the tournament’s outcomes, noting that its primary objectives were successfully met, thanks to the high level of commitment and cooperation from all participating teams.
“We’re pleased with how the tournament turned out.
“Many young and new talents were uncovered, and the spirit of unity was evident throughout,” he said.
The tournament, held earlier this week, on Monday (March 31), at Arena REDEEM Singai in Bau paved the way for even broader participation in future editions, with hopes of growing the competition’s impact across Sarawak.
