KUCHING: Ronnie Teo Teck Wei retained his position as the president of the Journalists Association of Kuching Division (KDJA) Sarawak for the 2025-2027 term.
This was confirmed during KDJA’s annual general meeting (AGM) held on Monday (Mar 24).
Zulazhar Sheblee of The Star was re-elected as vice-president, alongside newly appointed Angeline Lim from the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS).
Firdaus Arasy Idris from RTM retained his position as secretary without opposition, with John Lister Chan of Sin Chew Daily assisting him in the role.
Chong Kho Lee from See Hua Daily also retained her position as treasurer, supported by Zaphne Philip of BERNAMA, who also retained her position uncontested.
Several new and familiar faces were elected to the executive committee, including Shikin Louis and Nancy Nais from Dayak Daily, Farah Diana Shamsuddin from TVS, Lim Lee Ling from International Times, Mohamad Faizal Ahmad from Utusan Sarawak, Indun Silong from Suara Sarawak, and Voon Chia Yung from the Information Department.
Jeeridyne Chan from TVS was appointed as auditor for the term.
The AGM was attended by 55 journalists, photographers, videographers, and editors from various media organisations in Kuching, featuring a breaking of fast session.
Currently, KDJA has a strong membership base of 180 members. Founded in 1973, the association works to protect the welfare of media practitioners and promote professionalism within the media industry in the Kuching Division.
