KUCHING: Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin graced the gala dinner of the 2024 Borneo International Craft Expo at a leading hotel here last night (Nov 28).

The event was also attended by the wife of the Head of State, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, as well as the wife of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker, Puan Sri Datin Amar Fatimah Mohamad Iskandar.

In a brief speech, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan, emphasised the importance of the international craft expo as a platform to promote local arts and culture globally.

“We are focusing on innovation, sustainability, and diversity of cultural heritage in the Land of the Hornbills.

“Therefore, we aim to position Sarawak as a craft destination capable of attracting visitors and buyers from around the globe,” he said sdding that such events also provide opportunities for craft practitioners to expand their networks and gain global recognition.

The gala dinner was part of efforts to strengthen collaborations in tourism, creative arts, and handicrafts sectors.

Meanwhile, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin is scheduled to depart at 12.40 pm today, concluding her four-day visit here.
