BETONG: The Dewan Mellenia Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS) in Debak began operations at 1.30 am today to provide shelter for 32 families affected by the recent flooding.

The Civil Defence Force (APM) reported that 114 individuals have been impacted by the floods, with 32 homes submerged in water.

The affected people include 43 males, 60 females, comprising adults, children, infants, individuals with disabilities (PwD), and the elderly.

The areas affected are Kampung Lalang, Kampung Bungey, and Kampung Baru.

As of 9.30 am, APM assured that the situation in the vicinity is secure and under control, benefiting from favorable weather conditions.

Despite the receding river, there is a concerning trend of increasing water levels.
