KUCHING: A young offender was placed on a one-year good behaviour bond after he pleaded guilty to breaking into a house and stealing a smartphone in April.

Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali handed the sentence after a social report on the 18-year-old was tendered by the Social Welfare Department yesterday (June 12).

According to the first charge, the boy was charged under Section 448 of the Penal Code for breaking into a house in Taman Sonia, Mile 9 around 11.30am on April 27.

On the second, he was charged under Section 380 of the Penal Code read together with Section 511 for stealing a Samsung phone and RM50.

Insp Mohd Adzmei Ahmad prosecuted the case while the accused was not represented by a lawyer.
