KUCHING: A teenage boy was sent to the Hendry Gurney School in Puncak Borneo by the Magistrates’ Court here after pleading guilty to stealing 15 pieces of wooden planks.

Magistrate Zaiton Anuar imposed the sentence on the 19-year-old accused from Kampung Tabuan Melayu after hearing a social report from the Department of Social Welfare (JKM) on Wednesday (Feb 1).

He will be detained at Henry Gurney until he is 21 years old.

According to the charges, he and another friend were accused of stealing 15 pieces of wooden planks belonging to a 59-year-old woman in Jalan Kedandi, Muara Tebas, at about 9.30am, Dec 28, 2022.

The accused was charged under Section 379 of the Penal Code and read together with Section 34 of the same Code.

The prosecution of the case was handled by Inspector Mohd Adzmei Ahmad while the accused was not represented by a lawyer.
