KUCHING: The Tebedu Border International Bike Week has kicked off with grand ambitions to redefine the district’s narrative, transforming it into a prominent pitstop town and a haven for motorcycle enthusiasts from around the world.

Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada delivered an impassioned inaugural speech to mark the commencement of the Tebedu Border International Bike Week.

The event, being held for the first time in Tebedu District, is from July 21 to 23.

In his speech on Friday (July 21), Dr Simon pointed out the event’s role as a catalyst for attracting both local and foreign bikers to the region, while also creating opportunities for local businesses, homestays and small farmers to benefit from the influx of visitors.

Beyond its identity as a border town, he encouraged exploring Tebedu’s vibrancy and maximising its tourism potential.

He expressed optimism that once established in the Calendar of Events, the Tebedu Border International Bike Week would grow to become one of Sarawak’s largest bike eeek events, showcasing the best of the region.

During the ceremony, Dr Simon called upon all attendees to celebrate Sarawak’s 60th anniversary of independence with the slogan “Sarawak Maju Makmur”.

The Tebedu Border International Bike Week promises not only to be a thrilling event for motorcycle enthusiasts but also a significant step towards unlocking the district’s potential for tourism and economic growth.
