SIBU: Maintaining racial harmony is crucial in Malaysia, a nation comprising diverse communities of different races, ethnicities, and religions.
The chairman of the Yakin Diri Kindergarten Management Board YMCA, Temenggong Dato Vincent Lau Lee Ming, emphasised the importance of racial harmony for political and economic stability.
He highlighted that this is one of the fundamental teachings that Yakin Diri Kindergarten should instill in the children attending the institution.
“At Yakin Diri Kindergarten, besides imparting basic knowledge to our children, we aim for them to learn to live together harmoniously as a community,” he said in his speech at the Teachers’ Day and Mother’s Day Celebration Ceremony at the kindergarten on Friday.
Lau also stressed the significance of the Teachers’ Day celebration in fostering respect for educators among students.
“We want to see our people always expressing gratitude, as only then can we nurture a compassionate society. Through this, we can establish a harmonious society,” he added.
Earlier at the same ceremony, Teresa Lau, the kindergarten principal, reminded the children to appreciate their parents and teachers.
“Parents are the primary teachers to our children. Similar to any teacher, parents also bear the responsibility of shaping our children’s character,” she said.
Also present were the director and deputy chairman of YMCA Sibu, Wong Ei Sing.
