SIBU: Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) remains steadfast in its efforts to ensure that eligible members of society, particularly the asnaf group, receive what is rightfully theirs.

TBS General Manager, Datuk Abang Mohd Shibli Awang Mohd Nailie, said that last year (2024), the agency disbursed RM112 million to those eligible and those affected in various aspects.

“This is part of our ongoing commitment to ensure that rightful recipients, especially the asnaf, receive what is due to them through four key programmes.

“These include educational support, welfare aid, assistance to Islamic institutions involved in social efforts, and skills development initiatives for children of the asnaf and those in the B40 group.

“What is most important is that when we are able to instil confidence in the community, more people will come forward to contribute and pay their zakat.

“These are the funds we utilise to continue operations and to ensure that all eligible individuals receive assistance,” he said.

He said this when met by reporters at the Sibu Division Customer Day and Hari Raya gathering at the Sarawak Islamic Complex here today.

Meanwhile, on the event, Abang Mohd Shibli said it was the first time the Hari Raya gathering was held for the central zone, which includes Sibu, Mukah and Sarikei divisions, with almost 1,000 participants.

“Our aim is to express appreciation to all our customers, strategic partners, and the various departments and agencies that have supported us in fulfilling our responsibilities.

“In the spirit of Hari Raya, this is also a great opportunity for us to meet in person and seek forgiveness from one another,” he said.

He added that the next stop for the event were Kuching on April 21, and then Miri on April 23.

“We invite our customers, supporters and all who regularly liaise with us to join in celebrating Hari Raya together,” he added.
