Tanjung Manis a focal point for devt in S’wak

TANJUNG MANIS: Development in Sarawak will focus on Kuching to support the export activities of Tanjung Manis and Bintulu in the future.

Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud said this at the ground-breaking ceremony of Kuala Rajang Industrial Synergy Sdn Bhd (KRIS) industrial site and Ascent Industrial Complex Sdn Bhd (AIC) bulking complex and

jetty in Lot 1301 Kedang Land District, Kuala Rajang, Tanjung Manis yesterday.

“Focal point for the long term development for Sarawak…one of course in Kuching, second is Tanjung Manis and the third is Bintulu.

“As a development gateway, Kuching and Tanjung Manis are the focal points that would spread growth to the surrounding area. Thus, various races in Sarawak will have the opportunity to participate in Sarawak’s trade activities in the future,” he said.

According to Taib, Tanjung Manis is the state government’s effort to expand the existing development throughout Sarawak.

He said it will provide employment opportunities either directly or indirectly to the people.

In addition, he said development in Tanjung Manis is open to any party in order to develop economy.

He therefore welcomed all investors to Tanjung Manis as it  continues to develop in the future.

“Tanjung Manis as the port and industrial estate will attract employees and the process will continue and it must be maintained by the people.”

“People have to have an open attitude in order to develop Sarawak,” he said.

In the meantime, he also said that the industrial sector continued to expand because of the high percentage of the people’s open attitude.

“Therefore, young people should be trained to be brave to venture into this field as Tanjung Manis increasingly becoming the focus of investors.”

Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia Drs. Jahar Gultam, Assistant Minister for Workforce Development and Training Datu Len Talif Salleh, Assistant Minister for Public Utilities (Electricity and Telecommunications) Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi were among those present at the ground-breaking ceremony.
