KUCHING: Tambirat and ABF Telaga Air will kick off the opening match of the Asajaya Unity Football Cup tomorrow (Apr 2).
The two teams will compete in the official opening match, scheduled to take place at 2.30 pm at the Kampung Sambir football field in Asajaya.
Tournament chairman Jalek Jaafar said six matches are scheduled for tomorrow, with three in the morning and three in the afternoon.
“The competition begins tomorrow, with six matches scheduled. Tambirat and ABF Telaga Air have been honoured with the task of kicking off the opening match in the afternoon,” he told Sarawak Tribune.
Jalek also expressed his expectation for a fierce competition between the two teams.
“Tambirat represents the Asajaya district, while ABF Telaga Air is from Kuching,” he said.
The opening ceremony is expected to be officiated by Sambir Bistari Football Club (KBSB) patron Datuk Abdullah Julaihi.
The oldest football tournament in Sarawak, sponsored by Lea Sports Centre (LSC), features the participation of 50 top teams.
A total cash prize of RM11,000 will be awarded to the top three teams.
