KOTA SAMARAHAN: Community leaders are encouraged to report any integrity issues related to development projects in their areas.
This encouragement was given by the Chief Minister’s Department Minister (Ombudsman and Integrity) Datuk Haji Talib Zulpilip, while attending “Integrity Programme: Leaders with the Community” at the Industrial Training Institute (ILP) here, yesterday.
According to Talib, the community leaders are free to contact him and his department to consult on the matter.
“Community leaders and society in general can be the eyes and ears of the government in eradicating corruption and bribery. We must work together to develop the nation through integrity and good management,” he said.
The programme was jointly organised by the Integrity Unit and State Ombudsman in the Chief Minister’s Department and Samarahan District Office.
The organisers also collaborated with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Sarawak, State Education Department, and National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK).
Among those who attended the programme were community leaders from Samarahan area and Samarahan education staff members. Also present was Kota Samarahan Resident, Ibrahim Lumpu.
Before Talib spoke two talks were given by representatives from AADK and MACC Sarawak. They touched on integrity and strategies against drugs, and integrity and unity of the community.
