BINTULU: There is still a small group of people here who are unclear on the implementation of rural transformation programme (RTP) projects.
Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip in confirming this, emphasised that the group of people were relatively small.
“They can refer to the Resident’s Office for information and further enquiries,” he said when presenting minor rural project (MRP) grants for Jepak constituency on Sunday.
He said there were also small groups who deliberately refused to acknowledge in addition to making false claims against the maintenance of RTP projects.
“I don’t know what their intentions are, only they themselves know,” he added.
Talib explained that the RTP grant was under the management of the Divisional Resident Office where state representatives submit a list of projects to be implemented.
“The list of projects is compiled from requests submitted by the people and JKKKS to their respective assemblyman, Service Centres, District Offices, local authorities and relevant government implementing agencies,” he said, adding that the Divisional RTP Committee would meet to determine the priority of each project according to the respective constituencies.
He opined that the initiative was to accelerate the development of rural infrastructure.
“The assemblyman or his office does not receive the funds. I once heard a few people claiming that the funds went into the assemblyman’s account. This is not true.”
He stressed that the RTP funds were channelled directly to the District Office and related implementing agencies such as the Public Works Department (JKR) and local authorities.
“RTP was introduced by the late Tok Nan (former chief minister the late Pehin Sri Adenan Satem) when he became the chief minister.
“When Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg took over, he continued with the RTP projects. In addition, this project is closely monitored by the Chief Minister’s Office,” he added.
