Talentbank Annual Graduates’ Choice Award  garners record-breaking votes

KUALA LUMPUR: The sixth edition of the Talentbank Annual Graduates’ Choice Award (GCA) accumulated a record-breaking 464,220 votes, the highest number of votes from university students since its inception.

Talentbank, in a statement today, said the award, which was held to recognise top employers in Malaysia, was commemorated recently and saw fierce competition among 2,500 companies in more than 90 categories. 

It said notable winners include AIA Shared Services, Johnson & Johnson, Petronas, Sunway University, Top Glove and UNIQLO who secured the title for the fifth consecutive year.

“While Maybank, EY, Maxis, AIA, Touch ‘n Go and Intel also continued their winning streak in their respective categories,” the statement said. 

Talentbank chief executive officer Ben Ho in the same statement said the GCA, endorsed by undergraduates, was held to echo the aspiration of emerging workforce and provide a platform for undergraduates to voice out their employment preferences. 
 
He said a comprehensive survey found that fresh graduates anticipate starting salaries to range between RM3,000 and RM3,500 and their top career goals for 2023 are achieving work-life balance, job security and career development.

The statement also stated that the GCA was commended by the Higher Education Ministry’s deputy secretary-general (Policy) Datuk Dr Megat Sany Megat Ahmad Supian who remarked that it had bridged the gap between academia and the professional world, and benefited both students and employers alike. 

Meanwhile, it said that Universiti Malaya director of Graduate Employability and Career Centre Dr Iskandar Abdullah stated the award encourages students to explore opportunities with companies known for their commitment to providing graduate employment.
