KUCHING: TABIKA Kemas has expressed support for the Sarawak government’s initiative to strengthen English language education.
Kuching Division KEMAS officer Hazlinah Samsir said this is demonstrated by the participation of TABIKA Kemas children in the Stampin Parliament area in rhythmic speech or choral speaking.
“They are able to perform choral speaking without reading any text, and they can memorise and pronounce the words correctly.
“And I believe they also understand the message conveyed through the movements they make.”
Hazlinah said this at the TABIKA Kemas Appreciation Day for Stampin Parliament here today (Jan 14).
She added that to make a child excel, they must not only master the 3Rs (writing, reading, and arithmetic), but they must also possess problem-solving skills.
“For example, we often hear how children solve math problems, like if their teacher has five apples and the child is given three, how many are left.
“This is one way for these children to develop problem-solving skills.”
In addition, she informed that Early Childhood Education Institutions under KEMAS have received recognition from Reader’s Digest Golden Trusted Awards five times, based on public voting.
“This trust shows that Tabika KEMAS is of the same quality as other early childhood education institutions.”
At the same time, a total of 329 children were celebrated at the event, recognising their participation and activities at the tabika throughout 2024.
Of this number, 32 children from 58 Tabika KEMAS in the Stampin Parliament received excellence awards, presented by Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap.
