KUCHING: Sarawak Workers Party (SWP) has voiced its support for the government’s proposal to end the pension scheme in the civil service.
Its president Munan Laja said the policy would lessen the burden of the country.
“Besides looking after the welfare of those in the civil service, the government also need to look after the other sectors of the society such as the farmers, fishermen, entrepreneurs and even musicians.
“Those not in the civil service also contribute to the country, but what is there for them?” he questioned.
He said that though many are against the proposal, it will only apply to the new intake of the civil service.
“SWP also wishes to propose for more opportunities to be given to the Dayaks in the civil service in order to be on par with others in the nation’s administration.”
