KUCHING: Switzerland is exploring three key areas to strengthen its cooperation with Sarawak, focusing on welfare, protection agreements, and the reinforcement of multilateral principles.

Swiss Ambassador to Malaysia Chantal Moser said the move is part of efforts to expand Switzerland’s diplomatic and economic ties with the state.

“I’m very interested in understanding Sarawak’s vision and Malaysia’s broader journey in ensuring the well-being of its people,” she said.

She said this after a courtesy call on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today (Mar 25).

Moser said welfare is a core focus in Switzerland’s engagement with Asia, alongside protection agreements and promoting multilateralism.

“Visiting Sarawak has been insightful in learning about its aspirations and Malaysia’s sustainability efforts,” she added.

Her visit also builds on past exchanges, with Sarawakian delegations previously visiting Switzerland to study sustainable development and economic cooperation.

Moser expressed hope to strengthen these ties through targeted partnerships and ongoing discussions with Sarawak officials and stakeholders.
