KUCHING: The School of Design and Arts, Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak (Swinburne Sarawak), is collaborating with Kids Speak on an advocacy project, ‘Say Yes!’.

The objective is to support four local non-governmental organisations (NGOs): Sarawak Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA), Kuching Food Aid (KFA), Society for Critically Sick Children (S.O.S Kids), and Sarawak Eco Warriors.

According to a statement released by Kids Speak, at the ‘Say Yes!’ event, which will be held on Nov 9 at 10am, senior students from Kids Speak; Kairos Youths will advocate for the NGOs to raise awareness and funds.

“The event will take place at the Lecture Theatre, Swinburne University, and there will be a charity bazaar and food donation drive for KFA starting 8.30 for an hour,” the statement said.

Associate Professor Dr Hugh Leong, the head of the School of Design and Arts, said the university is proud to collaborate with Kids Speak again to organise this event.

Furthermore, Kids Speak principal Rebecca Chieng said that this is the fourth time they have organised ‘Say Yes!’

“It raises awareness of the multiple needs in our community while the students are allowed to speak for charity, and through volunteer work, we hope to foster empathy and compassion in the youth with the 14 NGOs we have worked with within these 10 years.”

The public are invited to attend the charity bazaar and bring food items to donate to KFA.

Tickets for the main event can be purchased at RM40 per person, with all proceeds going to the four NGOs.

For more information on ‘Say Yes!’, the public can contact Rebecca at 016-878 0221.
