KUCHING: The Power Aquatics Swimming Club (PASC), in collaboration with the Sarawak Sports Corporation, recently organised a high-level swimming training camp aimed at enhancing the skills and competitiveness of local swimmers and coaches.
The camp was conducted by American coach, Megan Oesting, who also serves as the Technical Director of the Malaysia Swimming Federation.
Her presence provided a unique opportunity for the state’s swimming community to benefit from international-level expertise and training methods.
PASC advisor, Coach Voon expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to learn from a coach of Oesting’s calibre.
“She has brought in technical insights and experience that we’ve been missing locally.
“It’s been an enriching experience not just for our athletes, but also for our coaching staff,” he said.
He added that the impact of the camp extended beyond the swimmers, as local coaches were also able to learn and improve through direct exposure to Oesting’s approach.
“We are very thankful that she could come and help Sarawak swimming.
“Her input has not only benefited our athletes but has also strengthened our coaching foundation,” he added.
Voon also expressed gratitude to the Sarawak Sports Corporation and the Malaysia Swimming Federation for facilitating the initiative, saying that such collaborations are vital in elevating the standard of swimming in the state.
The camp, held from April 11 to 13, provided an intensive three-day training experience for both swimmers and coaches.
