KUCHING: A local Sarawak company, Sinisana Technology Sdn Bhd, emerged as the winner of the Cargill Topical Prize on the website in the food and agriculture sectors, with smart contracts validated by employers, payment providers and employees earlier this week.
The company was established in 2019 by Jonah Lau Kung Hui and his American business partner Gary D’Agostino.
In an interview with the New Sarawak Tribune yesterday, Jonas stated that his company assists brands in out-competing their competitors by providing consumers with a behind-the-scenes look at the story of the products they are purchasing.
According to him, brands may increase their brand value and develop enduring consumer loyalty by merging various data streams along the supply chain.
Apart from the Cargill Topical Prize, Sinisana also won another award from the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) last Friday for the Most Innovative Services.
The award was presented by Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry Senator Datuk Lim Ban Hong, in Kuala Lumpur. The presentation was made in the presence of MATRADE chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz.
Jonas expressed his excitement at the news that they had been recognised twice in a week — first, global recognition from Thought For Food and Cargill for their Web3 for Food and Agriculture innovation.
“We were honoured today with the Malaysia International Halal Showcase’s (MIHAS) Most Innovative Award for Services.
“We appreciate the support provided by the Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) and the award from MATRADE.
“Not forgetting, all of our team members at Sinisana Technology, thank you!” he said excitedly.
Cargill, one of the largest companies in the global food supply chain, is based in the United States. Decopolis from Jordan takes second place in the Topical Prize competition.
