S’wak a benchmark for others in digital development

MIRI: Sarawak is set to become a point of reference for the rest of Malaysia with regard to advancement and progress in digital development.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg revealed that he recently received a visit from a guest from Pahang who wanted to learn how Sarawak developed its smart city.

“I dare say that Sarawak is ahead in many aspects compared to other places in digital development. Besides that, we are also quite ahead in terms of green energy development from the hydrogen gas.

“Last week, I received a visit from a Japanese company which made a commitment to invest in Bintulu to produce hydrogen gas for export,” he said during the launch of Sarawak Women’s Day celebration here yesterday (March 8).

His text of speech was read by Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.

Abang Johari noted that Sarawak’s young people also had more space to showcase their talents with the availability of TVS, adding that Sarawak was the only state to have its own TV station.

He said Sarawak had a bright future ahead and expressed confidence that women would play an important role in the state’s development.

The premier expressed his gratitude and appreciation to women who gave their strong support by putting their trust in Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the last state election.

“I am confident that the strong support given is based on the GPS government’s performance over the past four years. As such, we will continue our efforts to govern and develop Sarawak to achieve the status of a high-income and developed state by 2030.

“At the same time, I would like to call on all women to continue playing a role in ensuring that Sarawak continues to be strong and united to restore our rights that have been eroded over the years.

“And we must show to the rest of Malaysia that our people are united with one voice to regain the rights,” he said.
