KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan chairman Kevin Lau Kor Jie has been elected as the new chairman of the party’s Youth Wing for the 2025-2027 period, at its triennial delegates conference (TDC).
He replaced Deputy Minister of Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang, who did not seek re-election, at the TDC which was held behind closed doors recently.
Lau, who is the Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) Environment and Public Health Standing Committee chairman, was elected as the Bawang Assan chairman last month.
“Heartiest congratulations to all the new Youth office bearers for 2025-2027 term led by the new chief Kevin Lau Kor Jie,” SUPP president Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian said in his Facebook post.
He also expressed his gratitude to Tiang for his years of services, sacrifices, dedication and loyalty to the party and the people of Sarawak.
Meanwhile, Kho Teck Wan, a political secretary to Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg, has retained her post as the party’s Women head at a separate TDC.
Her deputy is Wong Zee Yeng while the posts of four vice heads went to Tan Li Foong, Voon Shwu Phin, Ling Siew Hung and Sii Leh Hung.
Thian Siew Lan was elected the secretary with Chieng Mee Kiong as her deputy.
The two posts of assistant secretaries went to Sim Ya Szi and Ong Soon Kee while the post of treasurer went to Wong Mang Yun with Yeo Siaw Ping as assistant treasurer.
Jenny Ting Hua Hung was elected as the organising secretary and Michaelina Richard Riot as the assistant.
The post of publicity secretary went to Katherine Wong Siew Chii and the assistant publicity secretaries are Chai Mian Nyen and Tiong Mee Sing.
The post of welfare secretary went to Jenny Lau Ung Kwong with Ho Guek Meng as assistant secretary.
