KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Central Women’s Section Central Executive Committee (CEC) strongly urged the Parliament to pass the Bill on Domestic Violence (amendment act 2017) submitted by Minister of Women Family and Community Development, Datuk Rohani Abdul Karim without further delay.

The committee said the amendment includes giving authority to each state and divisional welfare officer to issue Interim Protection Order (IPO) to the victims over the weekend. The process could be done within 24 hours.

“Besides, we strongly support the new amendment of the child sexual offences bill 2017 to be passed.

“On the other hand, our party’s women section is against RUU355 as it is unfair to women and an injustice to women’s rights. We will stand firm with everyone to defend women’s rights and justice,” said the committee.
