KUALA LUMPUR: Sarawakian judoka Tan Kok Hong bagged a silver in the under 81 kilogram (kg) weight class category at the Sukma Games on Thursday (Sept 22).

In what was his final match in the Sukma arena, Kok was defeated by Perak’s Ahmad Ikhwan Ahmad Hamdan during the finals held at the Dewan Kompleks Sukan in UiTM Shah Alam.

“This is the best result from me with the team that was able to bring home the medal to Sarawak.

“Thank you to the coach, team and also supporters and family members for their support and guidance.

“I am sorry that there is no gold medal for Sarawak and we have done our best,” said a visibly downhearted Kok when met by the press after the medal presentation ceremony on Thursday.

The judo camp completed their Sukma campaign with three silvers and a bronze medal.

Kok also expressed regret for ending his Sukma journey without a gold medal.

“We have prepared for this for so long but we didn’t manage to get any gold. This is my last Sukma and getting a silver is just not good enough,” he added.

Despite that, he said he was still glad to be able to contribute to the state’s medal tally.
