KUCHING: Sarawak United FC (SUFC) head coach B. Sathianathan still believes in his players coming out top in the Super League away match against Sri Pahang FC at Stadium Darul Makmur, Kuantan on Wednesday night (May 11).
“I’m confident of our chances despite the heavy task awaiting the players in Kuantan,” former Malaysia coach Sathia told Arena Suara Sarawak.
His plans have somewhat been made difficult following the absence of several key players who are out injured. First-choice goalkeeper Mohd Sharbinee Allawee Ramli is also suspended for the match.
“(Forward) Uche Agba and (midfielder) Ashri Chuchu have yet to fully recover from their injuries,” Sathia revealed. “Whatever it is, if the players can make full use of the opportunities, a positive result is not impossible.”
SUFC are currently second from bottom in the standings while Sri Pahang are sixth. Both have four and seven points respectively.
In another development, businessman Muliadi Awang Matsri, 41, has been appointed as SUFC’s new manager.
“I would like to announce that Muliadi Awang Matsri is the new manager of SUFC with immediate effect.
“He replaces Mohd Saif Jubaidi, who has resigned due to other commitments,” said SUFC chairman Datuk Posa Majais.
Meanwhile, Muliadi thanked the management of SUFC for trusting him to bring the side forward. “I hope my inclusion will be a boost to the team as we face every match and strive to remain in the Super League.”
